Military Cross

Gazetted 14 September 1917, p9588

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion toduty in leading his company under heavy enfilade fire to the attack and capture of a strong concrete emplacement. He and twoothers forced their way in, bayonetted the gunners and took eleven prisoners. Their prompt and gallant action was the means of reducing a stubbornly defended point which had checked the advance of a considerable portion of our line. He set a splendid example throughout the day, and reorganised and consolidated the final objective with, marked ability and initiative.
